Driving, and an Evening Grocery Visit

I love driving. especially at night. there are no (or not many) other cars. and im just cruisin along, at whatever speed I want, cauz noone's behind me, I'm not speeding, and therefore I am not a hazard nor a traffic slower.

Driving is so relaxing, so free. I love the feel of accelerating, and maneuvering. I love turning, and going through bends and wide roads. So fun. =)

Today my dad and I went to T&T (yes again). I LOVE T&T. They have delicious food, and if you go after 8pm (or after 7:30 pm just to scope it out, and grab what you can), the food discounted (no leftovers please). The bakery is large, and has a grand variety of baked goods, cakes, tarts, mmm, bread, etc... so delicious... great snack and breakfast foods.  Then you walk over to all the chinese new years stuff. mm so much candy (that i never buy D= ), "year cake" or rice cake, mmmm... what else..... crispy stuff.... really sweet stuff......... lalalala...............and yeah. my fav kind of rice cake is the baked kind, and they sold out. =( how could they!!!!! but yeah so sad... i'm going to go back and scope out some more when they bake the next batch.

okay, to make it easier to read, i shall format my usual T&T shopping experience in a series of steps:

1. park the car as close as you can to the entrance, but not on the ones where you need a permit.
2. walk inside through the "IN" door (please).
3. look at the wall at the flyers and see what is on sale.
4. walk inside another set of doors (IN).
5. go to the bakery. scope out everything on sale. scope out new things, take note of the prices and expiry dates (the closer you get to those dates, the cheaper they will be, so go at an optimal time)
--> check out the price for egg tarts! good price is 6 for 2.99 or less.
6. look at the special events section (chinese new year), check dates and prices as well. and sales items (the closer you get to the event, the more expensive, but after the event, and days after, the cheaper it gets)
7. wander off into the fresh fruits and vegetables section. check out the freshness, and prices.
8. check out the price of asian icecream (green tea, red bean, mango, exotic flavours... etc)
9. play with the crabs and look at the seafood they have on display (it's like an aquarium lol, but dirty)
10. walk down the aisles for unhealthy snackfood items on sale.
11. walk down the tea and beverages aisle for yummy drinks on sale.

it is better to do this right after the bakery for maximum selection:
12. walk to the sushi section and scope out the prices, and any special packages (spicy shrimp rolls, dragon rolls, spicy salmon onigiri, unagi). if it isn't 8pm yet, and there's still a large selection, come back every 10 mins to check for price changes.
13. check out the price of the grilled eel(unagi) (WHY IS IT ALWAYS 8.50?!)
14. check out their hot foods, (good price is 1.99, reg price is 3.99), there are bentos with grilled eel, breaded/fried chicken, salmon, or egg. so good. there are also bento meals with teriyaki chicken. some of them have curry sauce  =D , others just teriyaki sauce, or grilled eel sauce.

anytime:
15. wander around the frozen section (non-icecream) if you want stuff like dumplings or rice cakes (not the new years kind).
16. check out prices for milk and eggs (usually pretty expensive, don't buy their cheese) sometimes the milk is 3.99 or less, which is ideal. (depends on what brand and % of fat you want)

at the end:
17. quickly scan the pay aisles. they are usually not busy after 8pm. go to express if you have less than 16 or 8 items (i forgot which one).

we also went to nofrills. =D to get sugar cookies (pilsbury kind).... the ones that are like out of season from christmas, but they were all sold out. ugh. and their gingerbread cookies werent even on sale. what a rip.
they're having this "random" 1$ sale. so like random items are randomly 1$ (like 1L nelson milk cartons).
i love nofrills because they have boxes, and you can take them... from anywhere in the store (pretty much?).
