Dig Your Way Out of Those Clouds

I just got home from band practise. We're rehearsing songs for an upcoming musical/play thing. Half way through, one of the newer and younger members of our band came - a singer. He's in grade nine. This is his story, of how he started singing. He's the little boy.

Recounted by his mother:

When he was a little boy, he had not much of an interest in music. He didn't like to play instruments, nor sing. One day, he got into a car crash with his brother and his aunt - who was driving. Both the boys fell into a coma. The doctors told the boy's mother that both the boys may never wake up, and that the little boy would not be able to speak if he did wake up.

Time passed, and one day, the little boy suddenly jolted awake. He asked his mother " Mom, where am I? Why am I here?" His mother explained to him that he was at a hospital, and because he had gotten into an accident.

The little boy said to his mother, " Mom, before I woke up, I was standing on a giant cloud. I saw my aunt wearing a white robe, and a very bright figure standing next to me. I told that bright guy that I wanted to go home. The bright guy said, " See this cloud? If you dig your way through, you'll find your way home." So the little boy dug his way through the cloud, and then he woke up from his coma.

His mother told him that his aunt passed away at the time of collision, which explains why the little boy saw her in a white robe.

He also said to his mother, " I saw my brother standing on a thicker cloud, so it will be a while before he wakes up."

A few months later, his brother woke up from his coma.

Having recovered sucessfully from the coma and the accident, the little boy was still able to speak, regardless of what the doctors had said. He said, "God must have wanted me to sing because He gave me my voice back. I will praise Him with my voice, and I will sing for what He has done for me."

It's interesting.. I never knew why he sang until now... when his mom told us.

We have a perfomance next week, to advertise for the musical. =) better get practising!
